The main character, Dov-Ber, a Yiddish writer originally from Besserabia, tells of his wanderings between two worlds - Overcity and Subland. On the way to Overcity he meets the black prophet Jonah who reveals to him his mysterious visions. Thanks to the magical skills of Jonah, Dov-Ber is transported back to Belts - the city of his childhood - where he is spiritually strengthened, thus enabling him to continue his creativity and his life‘s journey.
